Local Information/ Leisure

Benview/Bridgend is  located within the village of Broadford, on the south side of the island only 8 miles from the bridge. Broadford itself is the second largest settlement on the island and is well served by a variety of restaurants, pubs and take aways all within easy walking distance (Feel free to have a take away back at the house) together with a supermarket, selection of smaller tourist shops, petrol station and a bank. Glen Brittle Beach from the ridgeThe Black Cuillin Ridge to the Inaccessible Pinnacle

If eating out Norma will happily recommend the best local options whether you are after a bar snack or more traditional seafood.

From Broadford a half hours drive north will take you into the heart of the Cuillins and all they have to offer by way of spectacular views and trecks.

A little further on and you will be into the north end of the island the legendary Bonnie Prince Charlie country and Dunvegan Castle, home of the Clan Macleod. Nearby you can also visit the breathtaking Kilt Rock with awesome photo opportunities.

Before returning home why not visit the islands capital Portree and take advantage of its many and varied shopping opportunities including the well acclaimed Aros Heritage Centre or indeed pay a visit to Talisker Distillery in Carbost, the home of the wonderful Skye malt whisky and enjoy a dram on one of the guided tours.

Loch Scavaig - you can get a boat from Elgol to this wonderful remote part of Skye.If you head south from Broadford you can explore the truly wonderful area of Sleat known as the Garden of Skye with its peaceful and scenic walks. Take the opportunity to visit the Clan Donald Centre for a unique opportunity to soak up the local history and folklore.

Also in the south end of the island is a must visit trip to Elgol, a remote community with what has was featured in the recent BBC series as one of the Best Views in Britain overlooking Loch Coruisk and beyond into the heart of the Cuillin Mountain range. Once in Elgol why not go that step further and go face to face with the Cuillin into the heart of Loch Coruisk on one of the many boat trips on offer.

Bella Jane Boat Trips

All in all Skye has it all in terms of spectacular rugged scenery with walks and trecks for the beginner or more cautious to the challenge of the Cuillin for those more adventurous or able. You may even be lucky and spot a golden eagle!!

Never more than 5 miles from the sea there are numerous opportunities to take advantage of boat trips whether for fishing or taking in the wildlife / sealife surrounding this wonderful island. Many of the boat trips offer a free second trip if no seals are spotted with regular sightings of dolphins reported!!

Again whether planning a walk, boat trip, excursion, or round of golf, Norma will be more than happy to provide the best possible local advice and help with any bookings etc
